A Brief Bio
In 1978, almost out of high school, I auditioned for a local television show. I did not make the cut; however, I met a woman who gave the name and number of a local band leader and vocal coach that might be interested in me. After 2 visits with him, he knew I had potential. With his advice and guidance I began entering various contests around the area culminating at the Mid South Fair Youth Talent contest in Memphis, TN. Over 100,000 contestants participate each year, only 15 make it to the final show. In 1981 I was one of the final 15, finishing 5th overall. It was truly an experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
After that I began to sing professionally. Being able to perform night after night with some of the most accomplished musicians in the business; an experience that money can't buy. To all of these musicians I owe an enormous debt of gratitude. Thank you. For more Information call 870 373 3876
I have continued to perform for the past 35 years. Now, you might be asking how the Elvis tribute started. In 1978, in the high school gym, one of the students performed as Elvis. Now, as you recall, Elvis died in 1977. Having the same Birthday as Elvis, I had Elvis in my thoughts more than your average 14 year old at the time. Okay, back to the high school gym. I was not impressed with my fellow student's performance. I told a buddy of mine during the performance; I would do a real "Elvis" impersonation the next year. I did exactly as I promised. I then became known as Joe Elvis Beavers. As mentioned earlier, I graduated in 1979. In late 1978 is where the first part of this story started. I began singing dinner music and dance music profesionally. After a year of singing "After the Lovin" the manager of the band wanted me to do an Elvis show at one of our gigs in 1983. For the following two years, I performed as Elvis. In 1985 my life took a twist that lead me in other directions, and I did not perform as Elvis again untill 1997. In 2003 I performed at the AMVETS club in Byhalia MS. As you can see on the press release page , I have been busy since then.
